A Brief Overview
The rehabilitation aide carries out assigned tasks for direct and indirect patient care activities. Assists licensed physical therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapy assistants, and students in all aspects of treatment in order to maximize each patient's functional ability. The aide is assigned tasks by occupational or physical therapists and works under their supervision for patient care activities. The rehab aide works on all medical units, in the department, and in hand therapy clinic when assigned. Assigned tasks include direct patient care, cleaning, clerical, supply maintenance, and other activities. The rehab aide participates in department and unit projects when assigned and takes required in-service education programs. May assist with other clerical duties as assigned.

What You Will Do
- Carries out indirect patient care tasks effectively; maintaining equipment; keeping assigned areas clean and orderly; stocking supplies; and completing computer tasks.
- Confers with the therapist when appropriate for guidance and clarification of patient care tasks; informs supervising therapist of changes in patient status.
- Coordinates care of patient with rehab staff. Maintains Department productivity. Works effectively with a wide range of patients in respect to age and cultural diversity.
- Utilizes appropriate Department resources, clinical specialists, resource therapist and supervisors when appropriate for guidance and /or assistance with patient care.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- None
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to provide appropriate care and progress treatment based on professional standards of practice, and on the needs of the specific individual, including age and developmental considerations, cultural and psychosocial issues, precautions and medical condition
- Ability to work well with individuals at all levels of the organization
- BLS - Basic Life Support
