Our facility in Billerica, Massachusetts is located in the metropolitan Boston area and specializes in the design and manufacturing of advanced photonics products based on MEMS and other micro-scale optical devices. Our unique technology enables the highest system performance in the most compact and cost-effective formats in a variety of applications.
This site's Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) products are laser-based imaging tools that have transformed ophthalmic care and made notable impacts on patients in cardiology, dermatology, oncology, gastroenterology, and other medical specialties.
We are presently seeking a Continuous Improvement Leader that will have overall responsibility for Continuous Improvement efforts for Excelitas Technologies Corp. in Billerica MA. The overall purpose of this position is to drive, deploy, and manage Continuous Improvement initiatives at the local level. The primary measure of success in this position will be the achievement of savings targets for the Site. Other success factors will be Site engagement as measured by solo improvement projects; coordination / tracking of projects and savings; and coaching and mentoring of teams within the Site. This position will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
Main responsibilities:

Deploy Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing initiatives within the Billerica, MA Site;
Drive Continuous Improvement/Lean Six Sigma/Theory of Constraints management planning and execution in partnership with local leadership and corporate Advanced Manufacturing leadership using a balanced global and local optimization approach;
Assist in developing Site process improvement goals and objectives; coordinate and champion activities to meet or exceed those goals;
Coordinate the measurement, tracking, and reporting of scrap reduction and cost savings initiatives for the Site;
Lead periodic Site Continuous Improvement reviews both internally and for regional roll up;
Create plans to ensure achievement of Site KPI targets;
Become the "resident expert" for all Continuous Improvement activities within the Site;
Partner with Site leadership team to drive cultural change, foster ownership and buy-in of CI activities within the Site;
Function as conduit between corporate Advanced Manufacturing and the local Site on both local Site initiatives and corporate deep-dive initiatives;
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical discipline is required with minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience;
Master's degree in business or engineering preferred but not required;
A solid understanding of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing philosophies is required;
A sincere belief in the viability of these concepts and the ability to communicate and demonstrate this to others is necessary.;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on coaching and influencing others are required along with proficient skills in Minitab, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel;
Strong technical leadership and high-impact program management skills;
Certification as a Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Black Belt or Lean expert certification is preferred.
