BetterUp is looking for a Federal HR Generalist to set us up for success for FedRAMP compliance. You will work with minimal supervision to address the gaps required to meet the FedRAMP Personnel Security requirements, and any other controls that sit within the HR team. You will partner closely with cross functional teams to deliver on those requirements, as well as set us up for success as we grow.


What you’ll do:


Responsible for supporting the personnel security controls outlined below: 



  • Personnel Security Policy and Procedures - Development, distribution, review, and updates of the FedRAMP compliant Personnel Security Policy and Procedures as it relates to the purpose, scope, roles, responsibilities, and management commitment of organizational entities upon guidance from FedRAMP, Executive Orders, Agency Memoranda, or other federal guidance (PS-1)

  • Role Risk and Background - review roles and responsibilities utilizing the OPM Position Risk Tool for proper Position Risk Designation and identify the PRD and background investigation for compliance by role; coordinate with HR and Information Security to match required BI to resources in Workday and track completion of the background investigations on an annual basis with risk or responsibility reporting to FedRAMP compliance system (PS-2)

  • Resource screening - Conduct FedRAMP resources screening in accordance with conditions for re-screening of responsibilities by FedRAMP, NIST, and Agency Sponsors as well as partner with Information Security and HR departments internally for identification of those individuals accessing information system processing, storing, or transmitting information now requiring special protection to satisfy org-defined screening criteria (PS-3)

  • Terminations - Support HR with personnel terminations for federal roles and conduct exit/transfer interviews; support IT with the disabling of information systems of personnel access upon termination of employment and maintain record for all access rights of federal employees (PS-4) 

  • Legal Compliance - Coordinate access agreements for FedRAMP systems and annual reviews and updates with BU Legal; develop Authorized Use Agreements for internal resources and present/track acceptance and signature for evidence records (PS-6) 

  • Third Party Access - Ensure 3rd party providers adhere to personnel security and access requirements and have access to the FedRAMP BetterUp for government environment and coordinate all tools needed to support the product; ensure 3rd party resources are compliant with FedRAMP timelines; oversee the return of the same when 3rd party resources are faulty or no longer required (PS-7, PS-8) 

  • Workday Integration - Coordinate with the appropriate stakeholders and system owners to ensure requirements are met for Workday HRIS for FedRAMP solutions

  • For all roles working on Federal contracts, U.S. citizenship is required. 

  • 2 years of demonstrated human resources, personnel security, and training support for a team requiring federal compliance.

  • Equivalent Experience and Certifications or Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Development, Personnel Security, Human Resources, General Studies, or Cyber Security.

  • 1 years experience with Workday

  • Team player and ability to work after minimal direction.

  • Ability to assess large-scale reporting, analyze trends, and provide contextual reporting to managers for reporting to senior leadership.

  • Ability to track and report compliance activity and trend analysis of FedRAMP risk.

  • Working knowledge of Windows, Apple OS, Google Workspace (Docs, Slides, Sheets), Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), JIRA, and Confluence, Microsoft Project or other Gantt scheduling tool (SmartSheet, Excel, PlanView, CA Clarity, Jira, etc.).
