Job Description:

Pennington Biomedical Research Center
, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Research Dietitian in the Ingestive Behavior, Weight Management and Health Promotion Laboratory.

The Research Dietitian should have a strong interest in behavioral science, dietary assessment, and the design and delivery of mobile health interventions. The candidate will join the Ingestive Behavior, Weight Management and Health Promotion Laboratory, which has a well-funded research portfolio that primarily focusses on the development and delivery of lifestyle interventions to improve health and foster effective weight management, the assessment of ingestive behaviors, and the quantification of food intake with imaging technology.

The Research Dietitian will work closely with a small team of researchers and dietitians and will participate in all aspects of clinical research conducted by the Ingestive Behavior Laboratory, including collaboration in the development and execution of research studies, collection management and analysis of study data, development and delivery of dietary & behavioral interventions, and creation and testing of mHealth applications.


Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in the assessment of ingestive behaviors in the laboratory and free-living conditions,

  • Participate in the development and delivery of health promotion interventions, such as exercise training, dietary interventions, time-restricted eating, and weight loss treatment.

  • Collaborate in the design, planning, and execution of experimental studies and clinical trials.

  • Participate in creation, preparation and submission of study procedures and materials for IRB consideration.

  • Facilitate development, refinement, beta testing, and validity testing of smartphone apps that are intended to quantify food intake behaviors or other health behaviors.

  • Participate in additional photography-based methods to assess various food intake related behaviors, or other health behaviors, such as alcohol intake or vaping.

  • Facilitate execution of studies conducted in the laboratory and community.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian with a Bachelor’s Degree

  • Highly motivated and organized

  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background or master’s degree in nutrition, statistics, public health, psychology, computer science, exercise science, kinesiology, or related field

  • 1 - 3 years of experience
