Panthers Data and Analytics represents the University of Pittsburgh Athletics Department as a part of the University's Pitt IT Analytics team. Our mission is to “Improve decision-making by managing data from source to strategy.”


We represent four domains in our framework: two on-field (administration and revenue generation) and two off-field (sports science and sports analytics).The position will work on projects across all domains. Projects could include data related to transactions, products, customers, player performance, sports events, and player movement.


The position will utilize Tableau, Alteryx, R and/or Python, and AWS to create analytics solutions.


The Pitt IT Analytics team is remote but often operates in conjunction with the University's on-site business units. The candidate should be prepared to work based on the eastern time zone.


The position will regularly collaborate with other members of the broader Pitt IT Analytics team including data engineers and data scientists.

Equivalent combinations of education, relevant experience, and industry certifications may be considered per University guidelines.


3+ years preferred of experience working with complex data sets using advanced statistics or machine learning; preference toward experience specifically in any of our sports domains: administration, revenue generation, sports science, or sports analytics.


Self-directed, motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment


Communicate technical and statistical concepts effectively with non-technical parties


Advanced knowledge of quantitative programming skills in Python or R


Advanced knowledge of SQL to extract, merge and synthesize disparate datasets


Working knowledge of data visualization and dashboarding; specifically with Tableau preferred


Experience with data lake architectures and related data and analytics services in AWS preferredExperience retrieving data from APIs preferred
