Description

We are looking for a full time Community Liaison to join the team!

Education and Experience:

Associate's degree in education, communications or social sciences and five years experience working with high-risk youths and their caregivers in an academic or social services setting.

Experience with accessing community resources and youth and family advocacy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reports to Principal

Serves as primary student recruiter/dropout prevention for Arizona Collegiate High School (ACHS).

Accesses local social services and academic resources on behalf of the agency's students and their caregivers.

Regularly contacts parents and guardians as the ACHS truancy intervention officer.

Makes personal contact with parents to encourage parental engagement in counseling and family strengthening services as needed.

Attends school and community meetings to promote student and parent participation in the agency's academic and social services activities.

Works in cooperation with the students, parents, teachers, advisors and principal to maximize academic success for all members of the ACHS learning community.

Assists Principal with planning and coordinating student-led conferences, meetings and outings.

Conducts family home visits to increase parental academic involvement and decrease student absenteeism.

Serves as security personnel on and off campus as assigned.

Contributes toward and maintains a positive work climate

Attends required training to improve student/caregiver liaison skills and represents the agency's academic services at community functions.

Oversees development and distribution of public relations materials.

Initiates, schedules organizes and oversees all aspects of student/parent recruitment events for academic and related services offered by the agency.

Interfaces with other departments in the agency to facilitate student enrollment, parent involvement and the promotion of the agency's academic services.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Assist the Principal in the resolution of discipline problems and maintainrecords of any action taken to ensure that the discipline policy is administered in a fairand just manner and that an optimum learning environment is maintained.

Collaborate with the faculty in the enforcement and implementation of the rules andother regulations of the student code of conduct to effect positive student behavior inthe school.

Oversee all matters of student attendance, coordinate outreach to students and families and make recommendations to the principal for resolution of chronic attendance problems.

Responsible for managing all student recruitment programs.

Develop and maintain a liaison with community and governmental agencies in regardto problems relating to drug and alcohol abuse, truancy, homelessness, mental healthinitiatives and other social and disciplinary issues.

Assist with the dissemination of information regarding school programs, policies and procedures in order to keep the various publics served by the school aware of the school's activities.

Requirements:

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with people of varied social, cultural and educational backgrounds.

Ability to perform recurring tasks while maintaining a standard of excellence at all times

Excellent overall computers skills including Microsoft Office, databases, and spreadsheets

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Must be able to use the following equipment: personal computer, including spreadsheet, word processing; telephone; switchboard; calculator; typewriter; and copy machine.

Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including some evenings, and weekends.

Must be able to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license and become insurable

Must be able to obtain or current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR

Must be able to obtain a Fingerprint clearance card.
