    POSITION TITLE: Elementary Reading Assistants




    LOCATION: To Be Determined




    SALARY: $39.99 per hour




    REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Principal, ELA Curriculum Coordinator, Building Literacy Coach



    POSITION SUMMARY:

    This is an hourly (up to 8 hours per day based on availability/preference) position for an endorsed teacher who will provide small group and/or individualized reading instruction at a variety of grade levels.
    This is a grant funded position, which does not provide benefits and may not be renewed after the 2022-2023 school year.




    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    Bachelor’s degree required

    Possession of Michigan elementary teaching certificate preferred

    Experience teaching struggling readers

    Proof of COVID vaccination required




    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Teach reading using district approved curriculum

    Develop instructional materials to provide individualized and small group instruction

    Communicate regularly with classroom teachers and building principal

    Work collaboratively with Building Support Team

    Evaluate academic and social growth of students, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports

    Regular and reliable attendance

    Other duties as assigned




    ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

    Ability to work effectively with families from varying socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds

    Ability to coordinate and team with building staff

    Ability to use multiple platforms and tools to deliver online instruction




    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, parents, students and administrators

    Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing




    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Add, subtract, and multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals




    REASONING ABILITY:

    Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

    Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations




    OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

    Work with parents and children of diverse cultural backgrounds

    Develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community

    Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
