Job Description

The Associate/Sr. Associate Director, Athletics Major Giving will report to the Assistant Athletics Director/Director of Major & Leadership Giving and is responsible for the qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of individuals who are capable of making gifts of $100,000 to $999,999. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of approximately 200 prospects that are inclined to support Boston College Athletics and will be expected to meet specific visit and solicitation goals. To be successful in meeting these goals, the fundraiser is expected to devise cultivation strategies which advance relationships and lead to the solicitation of prospects. The fundraiser will communicate effectively and persuasively in letters, proposals and in person, and will work collaboratively with development colleagues, coaches and Athletic Department leadership to maximize fundraising productivity. Additionally, the fundraiser will serve as a liaison and content expert for non-athletics fundraising staff and develop productive working relationships with key volunteers.

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:

First Level Associate Director (1-3 years of fundraising or directly related experience): $92,850 - $116,050
Second Level Associate Director (3-5 years of fundraising or directly related experience): $105,000 - $131,250
Senior Associate Director (5-7 years of fundraising or directly related experience): $115,900 - $144,900

Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor's degree, and for the first level Associate Director, 1-3 years directly related experience successfully closing gifts of $50,000 or more; for the second level Associate Director, 3-5 years directly related fundraising experience successfully closing gifts of $100,000 or more; for the Senior Associate Director, 5-7 years directly related fundraising experience successfully closing gifts of $250,000 or more, all levels preferably performed in a complex higher education environment. Travel and some evening and weekend work are required to be successful. A valid driver’s license is required. A demonstrated ability to speak and write persuasively about higher education and the Jesuit tradition is expected. Proficiency with technology and relevant software applications, such as Google mail (Gmail), MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint is also expected.
