Dietician


The Dietician will have responsibility for the daily provision of quality nutritional services to residents, patients, visitors and employees. Serves as the Nutritional liaison for the facility. Responsibilities are broad and varied.


Training/Experience Required:


  • must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Dietetics from an accredited college or university;

  • as well as Licensure as a Dietician/Nutritionist (RD/RDN;)

  • must possess recent (minimum of 2 years) experience in direct resident/patient care/management .


Major Functions:


  • interprets departmental Policies and Procedures to employees, residents/patients, visitors, governmental agencies;

  • meets with patients/residents , families and sponsors to review diet histories, as well as participating in discharge planning activities related to dietary services;

  • develops written dietary care plans identifying problems/needs, as well as goals to address them;

  • monitors dietary staff performance, daily (including Annual Performance Appraisals;)

  • assesses residents/patients with changes of status, or any changes, reported by family members, sponsors, Nurses, or C.NAs;

  • actively participates in the planning of regular and special diet menus, as prescribed by attending physician;

  • develops, participates in and conducts in-service training to all employees, with special emphasis on the Dietary Staff, to ensure their continuous development;

  • inspects work and storage areas, monitors inventory control;

  • participates in budgetary planning;

  • intervenes in emergency situations that may occur;

  • ensures the maintenance of a safe environment

  • speaks with residents/families, as needed; and,

  • serves as a role model, by being professional in dress, comportment and demeanor, at all times.
