Our mission and vision are to develop differentiated therapeutics for widely prevalent respiratory disease conditions, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), by using a proprietary drug delivery platform and existing therapeutic agents administered in metered-dose inhalers (MDIs). Join us as a SHE Specialist at our Redwood City, CA site, the leading center of innovation in the West.
The Sr. Automation Engineer provides technical leadership to high risk/high business impact projects/ technical developments across territories. Will provide functional leadership within own field, leading or contributing to appropriate corporate engineering and technology strategies.
What you’ll do:
Provide domain expertise to major capital projects
Provide technical direction and leadership and ensure the proper specification and design of equipment
Provide technical support to the project delivery organization throughout the project lifecycle
Provide technical support to the receiving organization to ensure that specified technical performance criteria are met during start-up and early operation
Identify breakthrough and emerging technologies, or devise improvements in existing technologies, that can be successfully applied to give business benefit.
Recognize where there are gaps between business needs and known and emerging technologies, and develop strategies to close technology gaps.
Assess the likely success and benefits of technologies and gain support and commitment to these opportunities from senior management.
Develop creative and efficient methods of pursuing and progressing development programmed to successful implementation.
Ensure that appropriate processes and standards are developed and deployed (including training, education and awareness).
Act as the Project Technical Manager on projects.
System owner for the automation systems
Primary point of contact with automation vendors
Review documentation for qualification/validation of control systems
Support process engineering efforts to optimize and scale the manufacturing processes
Oversee implementation/installation and lifecycle management of systems
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, or other related technical field.
Minimum 7 years’ experience in Automation Engineering, IT, or related field.
Project management experience and proficiency desired.
Experience implementing or supporting computerized systems in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Ability to work and communicate within a global, culturally diverse, and fast-paced, team environment.
Ability to adapt to changing business needs.
Ability to coach and mentor peers
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is desired.
Sound understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice, Safety, Health and Environment and Standard Operating Procedures.
Good working knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry.
Knowledge and understanding of validation and qualification principles, project management, and change control principles.
Experience with Rockwell Automation products
Experience with Delta Programming
