What We Need:

We are looking for a Category Manager to join our Strategic Procurement team in Muscatine, Iowa! 
While we would greatly appreciate your presence here in Iowa, we are open to remote or hybrid work arrangements. 

This is a highly visible role within HNI's Supply Chain organization.  It requires substantial engagement and partnership with key members of the executive leadership team as well as the various operational and business unit teams while building connections with the front line. This position focuses on developing and maintaining strong supplier relationships as well as providing broad based perspective on specific categories, sharing knowledge about marketplace environments, industry trends and supplier capabilities. It also requires understanding of internal factors such as material/design specifications, quality performance and service level requirements. This position contributes significantly to the company's ability to meet key strategic goals and financial targets.  It requires an understanding of the market forces, cost drivers and technological trends, in specific Direct Material categories, that affect short- and long-term material forecasts and strategies.

What You Will Do:

  • Implement planning tools and processes to capture and mitigate supplier constraints to demands.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and disputes for the benefit of HNI.
  • Evaluate operational and financial risk inherent in potential or existing supply chains to predict any level of detriment to HNI goals or end user expectations.
  • Guide the analysis of spend for specific categories.
  • Identify and introduce new materials, supply chain capabilities, technologies, and processes to meet current and future interests of HNI products and services.
  • Minimize supply chain disruption and execute projects on time, to budget, and without HNI or customer impact.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the category through price, design, structure, and process.

What You Have:

  • 7-10 years of experience in supply chain, with focus in strategic procurement and supplier relations, preferably in manufacturing and operations.
  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Supply Chain or Logistics, Business or Engineering
  • Superior communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to perform productively in a fast paced and visible environment.
