ABOUT CHILDREN SERVICES OF ROXBURY:

With its mission to bring peace of mind to children and families across Massachusetts, Children's Services of Roxbury (CSR) provides wraparound services to over 6,000 of the Commonwealth's most vulnerable residents each year. CSR offers housing for homeless families, culturally attuned behavioral health services, foster care for abused and neglected children, affordable childcare for low-wage families, and youth development programs. 


OVERVIEW:

CSR's Behavioral Health Department (BHD) offers a comprehensive array of high quality, culturally sensitive mental health services that provide children and families with the services they need for success at home, in school, and in the community. The department specializes in working with children and families of color, from many cultures, languages, and nationalities. From our In-Home Therapists to Family Partners, CSR's trained professional clinical and support staff provide holistic wraparound services that support the entire family.


SUMMARY: The Training and Staff Development Specialist (TSDS) will collaborate with the training department to review and analyze existing Behavioral Health Department (BHD) training and staff development procedures, curricula, and outcomes, in an effort to assess effectiveness of current training and its correlation to program intended outcomes. The TSDS will serve as a support person to each BHD program to measure, standardize, and develop department best practices. The TSDS will ensure a streamline of communication regarding department needs, concerns, or progress relevant to staff training and development. The TSDS, in partnership with the Quality & Access Director and program training representatives, will sustain, create, and adapt modules for training and professional development for the BHD. The TSDS will ensure the training program assists with field instruction, resource education and guidance for best practices and strategies to maximize individual role efficacy. The TSDS may partly be responsible for community outreach and participate in field trainings, as required, remaining knowledgeable of trends in the field.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Responsible for the development, coordination and/or facilitation of all trainings to be delivered to the Behavioral Health Department (IHT, CSA, TM, and OP) staff.
  • Ensure delivery of CBHI Mandatory Trainings, new staff orientations, new staff 6-week check-in, Refresher Corner, and Reliance administration and attendance.
  • Meet with department seniors regarding training needs and concerns, when needed.
  • Coordinate BHD portion of possible CSR job fairs; represent BHD for job fair within the community or on-line.
  • Participate and come prepared to weekly supervision and staff meetings.
  • Attend necessary trainings.
  • Deliver all services in a professional manner, ensuring privacy and safety.
  • Work as part of a team to promote the goals of the agency, including the organization's work to strengthen families and provide trauma-informed care.

  • Knowledge of impact of trauma on families of color.
  • Extensive experience in outreach and engagement strategies. 
  • Ability to work across silos.
  • Strong relationship-building and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, focused and detail oriented.
  • 3+ years behavioral health experience required (family behavioral health experience strongly preferred).
  • Bachelor's or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
