Quality & Feed Regulatory Manager (Caldwell, ID)

Summary

Manage and coordinate animal feed regulations and quality assurance program for Simplot Western Stockmen’s (SWS) facilities.  SWS manufactures animal feed at its feed mill, produces rolled and ground commodity products at two rail terminals, and sells manufactured feed through its retail stores.

Key Responsibilities

• Know and interpret FDA regulations regarding FSMA, VFDs, medicated feed mills, approved and prohibited animal feed substances, and other animal feed regulations as appropriate.


• Translate regulations and work with multiple departments to ensure written standard operating procedures meet federal, state, and local animal feed requirements.


• Create clear and concise operating procedures, which allow production to enforce regulatory compliance.


• Provide management with regulatory guidance, project options, and cost benefit analysis to make appropriate business decisions.


• Monitor product-labeling program including creation, delivery, and updating.


• Ensure facilities and feed products are registered and/or licensed with state and federal government as appropriate.


• Monitor processes and confirm production is properly documented to ensure SWS produces and delivers safe, quality feed.


• Receive, clarify, and resolve all non-standard production issues.


• Support all SWS facilities with feed regulatory guidance.


• Incorporate voluntary program requirements, such as Safe Feed Safe Food, if necessary.

Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

 

Relevant Experience

5+ years of QA and/or regulatory experience in a food or feed manufacturing environment.
