Municipal Clerk of Court, Town of Lyman

Department: Administration

Position Hours: Full-time position, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
Job Duties:

Duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Office procedures associated with the operation of the Municipal Court
  • Assist the Judge during bench trials and jury trials, including notification of jurors
  • Prepare dockets for Court
  • Track overdue open cases to ensure they are timely scheduled for trial
  • Reschedule court dates and notify parties
  • Process all tickets and warrants after Court to include updating LawTrak with dispositions and fine information
  • Maintain and monitor Standard Time Payment Agreements and issue any documents associated with this process
  • Process any documentation needed for the detention center
  • Issue Ishmell Orders, Bench Warrants, and NRVC’s as required
  • Receive and record all money for fines received by the Court into LawTrak
  • Prepare a daily deposit of monies received
  • Prepare monthly and yearly financial reports to be submitted to State Treasurer’s Office and South Carolina Court Administration
  • Submit disposition reports to SLED
  • Process all Expungement Orders in compliance with State law
  • Complete record checks
  • Greeting and assisting individuals arriving at the Town Hall lobby with questions, including but not limited to, applications for business licenses or issues, citation payments, and town event ticket sales. Assisting individuals with Planning and Zoning questions and if needed, contact the Planning and Zoning Administrator in reference to any questions, etc.
  • Contacting police officers to come in and assist individuals with any legal questions or problems
  • Receptionist duties include answering telephones, directing calls to appropriate personnel, and aiding citizens with any problems or concerns. Assist with other administrative duties, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Requires a high school diploma with five years of related administrative and clerical experience
  • Knowledge of municipal court procedures with experience as a Court Clerk is preferred
  • Experience with LawTrak court software
  • Outstanding customer service skills, written and oral communication skills, strong organizational skills, and time management ability
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel
