    Leander ISD is currently evaluating several potential models in light of the changing situation, and following guidance established by local, state and federal leaders.




    Regardless of what decisions are reached in order to open our campuses and operations, we must ask that all applicants, new employees, and current staff be prepared for

    possible variations in campus assignments, hours of operations, and modifications to job duties among other considerations.




    Any of these possible changes may not be known until we move into the school year and certainly will depend upon any developments in managing COVID -19 restrictions and recommendations.






    The State Board for Educator Certification will require all first time applicants for an initial credential to be fingerprinted as part of a national criminal background check. A cost of up to $49.00 will be charged for fingerprinting.





    Primary Purpose:

    The focus of the LEEF College Coach is to augment the work of the campus counseling department by directly supporting students who need additional assistance in navigating the college enrollment process. The program was tailored to fit the needs of each campus. College Coaches are provided at each high school campus and for 200 hours.



    Major Responsibilities and Duties:

    During meetings with students, the college coaches assist students with the College Enrollment tasks listed below:
    • To Support the College Enrollment Process:
      • Helping students research colleges and majors;

      • Discussing transition concerns;

      • Assisting them with completing their admission application;

      • Submitting other documentation including transcripts, ACT/SAT scores, resumes, college essays, and recommendations;

      • Completing and submitting the FAFSA;

      • Reviewing financial aid letters;

      • Applying for housing and meal plans;

      • Completing the roommate selection process; and

      • Registering for summer orientation.

    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Counseling Office.

    General Qualification Guidelines:



    Education/Certification/Experience:
    • Master’s degree from accredited university

    • Texas School Counselor Certification preferred




    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
    • Ability to communicate effectively.




    Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:
    • Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions of other information.

    • Needs to move about inside the classroom or campus to monitor students as necessary.

    • Maintain emotional control under stress.
