Position Description:

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Trainer to join our Cortez Safety, Health and Training team at our Cortez operation. The successful candidate will collaboratively engage with several key internal and external stakeholders to initiate and support safe and responsible mining operations.

Responsibilities:

• Collaboratively engage with several key stakeholders to reach objectives.
• Work to accomplish job tasks with minimal supervision while receiving a moderate level of guidance and direction.
• Lead the implementation of a Competency Based Training system within respective division and the continuous improvement thereafter.
• Display understanding of organizational dynamics, ability to effectively facilitate training and assessments.
• Assist and verify training standardization both within respective division while collaborating with other divisional representatives.
• Review the current training matrix to identify gaps in employee skills
• Schedule training (both internal and externally provided), observations, and assessments for the upcoming period
• Review the training activities completed since the last meeting, review people that are in training and plan for the training needs of the workforce
• Conduct training assessments and planned task observations to verify competency.
• Assist with training repository standardization and maintenance thereafter.
• Support regulatory compliance and assist in developing solutions to regulatory challenges.
• Act as a resource and mentor for site trainers and able to lead the training team in place of the supervisor for short periods.
• Collaborate with organizational subject matter experts to solve a range of complex problems and develop feasible and sustainable solutions.
• Take action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences.
• Strives for continuous improvement, alignment, and management of organizational systems.
• Continuously seek out learning opportunities to develop and strengthen skill sets.
• Continuously expand knowledge and understanding of Safety and Health structure, such as contractor controls, divisional specialists, Emergency Response, etc.
• Ensure safe and efficient operations through coaching and compliance to the company's Integrated Management System and local regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrates ability to analyze and confidently present data in a manner to promote ideas and opportunities to lead improvement preferred
• Knowledge and experience in underground mining, maintenance environments, construction or heavy equipment industry required
• Experience in training, scheduling and facilitation required
• Excellent communication and organizational skills required
• Effective time management to organize and prioritize a heavy workload in a fast-paced, demanding environment required
• Proven attention to detail with a high level of accuracy required
• Thorough knowledge of MSHA, State, and ATF regulations required
• Willingness to cross-train in other functions within Safety, Health and Training team required
• Capability to multi-task, self-manage and self-motivate required
• Knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, Visio) required
• Demonstrate and maintain good attendance and performance records required
• Demonstrated ability to perform all essential function of this role required
