Lab Technician - 2nd Shift

Laboratory Technician Waterbury, CT Full-Time Contract to Hire 2 nd Shift, 3P-11P Monday-Friday Compensation: $23-26/hr depending on experience Kelly Science & Clinical is looking for a Laboratory Technician to join a growing global company involved in dispending solutions for iconic brands in the beauty, fragrance, personal care, home, and healthcare markets located in Waterbury, CT. ABOUT THIS ROLE To ensure sample and color development meets the business growth and customer requirements. To provide accurate reporting on the current and historical performance of the anodizing department. To ensure material stocking and inventory control is met and as a qualified backup for the Laboratory Technician duties when support is needed. RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain Chemical Makeup, Processing, and Control Accurate addition of bulk chemicals from separate tanks into a mixing tank according to a recipe Perform lab testing to verify the chemical composition of the individual chemical components and of the final blended product Maintain records of lab results Maintain sufficient inventory of blended chemical to support production Maintain levels of waste treatment chemistry Receive line analysis status or indirect consumption calculations and determine, add, and oversee production chemical line additions Keep lab clean and organized.  Maintain and calibrate lab equipment. Maintain proper lab inventory for specific testing related to core responsibilities oversee waste treatment system operation Weekly cleaning, calibration and documentation of line and waste treatment pH probes Monthly transcribing and download of water meter and pH values, end-control Maintain probes and buffers for treatment system, stock control Weekly composite setup and grab samples for sample collection. Sample preparations for certified lab Split weekly samples for lab for internal analysis, e.g. phosphorous content. Collect data and generate waste KPI and alert when trends change Waste treatment projects or related processes (i.e. jar testing) to improve performance and efficiency. Control sludge container pickup and delivery Chemical receiving for bulk and non-bulk chemicals Organization of chemical warehouse including disposal of empty drums and totes Maintain cleanliness of chemical warehouse Daily and monthly chemical inventory Chemical inventories.  BFI updating – become back-up for process. Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree preferred, AS or Certification accepted 2+ years’ experience in the chemical industry preferred Strong verbal and written communication skills. Superior color acuity based on Munsell testing. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, SAP, etc. P#1 PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position requires the constant use of hands, fingers, and hand eye coordination. This position also requires frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing, and occasional turning, twisting, bending at waist, crouching, and reaching with hands and arms. Incumbent must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 35 pounds. Good close and peripheral vision, good depth perception and ability to adjust focus are required.
