Occ Summary

Independently plan and provide professional nursi ng care for patientsin accordance with physician orders and established policies andprocedures. Provide nursing services to patients and familie s inaccordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.


Work Performed

Plan, provide, super vise and document professional nursing careutilizing the nursing process for patients in accordance with physicianorders and established policies and procedures. Use professional nursingjudgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessment of thepatient's baseline needs and resp onse to care.Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licens ed andunlicensed care providers.Assist other nursing personnel in the de livery of nursing care and actas team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unitas assigned.Monitor and initiate correctiv e action to maintain the environment ofcare including equipment and mate rial resources.Participate in own professional development by maintainin g requiredcompetencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropria teassistance or educational offerings.Act as preceptor and support the d evelopment of other staff and formallearners.Participate in the identifi cation of clinical or operational performanceimprovement opportunities a nd in performance improvement activities.Perform other related duties in cidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications


Education

Workrequires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date.


Experience

Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. At a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of experience whoare exceptional performers may be eligible for this level.


Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
