Advertised Job SummaryEach summer, a number of groups come to USC Upstate to hold a variety of conferences. Groups range from middle school aged to adult aged. The groups can be as small as 10 and can grow to as large as 750 people. While on campus, the groups utilize classroom space, the cafeteria, the soccer fields, and other spaces on campus. Groups requesting housing can opt to stay in the Tree Houses or in The Villas. While these guests are utilizing our facility, it is important that we maintain the high standards of accommodations for them to insure they are happy and will return to Upstate year after year.
This position is an integral part of Housing and Residential Life s summer operations. As a summer employee, you will be working with conference administrators, their participants, as well as summer residents. This position requires strong interpersonal and customer service skills, as well as time management and flexibility as this position has a non-traditional work schedule. Due to the nature of our scheduling, SCAs cannot work another job (on or off campus).
Employee Responsibilities:
Assist Summer Conferences and USC Upstate Orientations
Assist conference staff and Orientation with their check in/out processes
Community walks of occupied Treehouse space during conferences
Staff the front desk during orientation from 5pm-midnight and assist as needed
Staff the front desk during camps; hours vary based on the camp schedule
Before and after each camp or conference, the following must be completed in all occupied suites
o Document any existing damage in each room
o Remove any belongings and trash left behind by guests
o Sweeping and mopping floors clear of dirt/grime
o Cleaning, Wiping down and sanitizing bathroom counters, sinks, toilets, and shower areas
o Restock trash bags and toilet paper
o Setting linen packages in rooms where the camp has requested linen service.
Assist Summer Residents:
Staff summer session check in/out (A, B and C)
Provide door decorations for each apartment
Conduct Health & Safety inspections monthly
Assist with lock outs, student conduct situations, and maintenance issues
Facilitate programs for the summer student residents
Complete daily duty walks of villas area
Furniture and Paint Crew:
o Move/safely stack furniture within the rooms
o Paint rooms in Magnolia; summer 2023
o Re-set room furniture
General Responsibilities:
Serve on an on-call rotation. On-call consists of 2 conference assistants, 24/7 one week at a time
Attend weekly staff meetings
Continuously monitor e-mail/group messaging for up-to-date information from Pro-Staff
Represent HRL by wearing a name badge & t-shirts when working
Clean/organize HRL spaces (i.e. storage spaces, RA resource room)
Assist in the Housing office as needed
Other duties as assigned

Must be a current USC Upstate student enrolled in summer school or at least six credit hours in the Fall 2023 semester.
