This position will report directly to the Head Soccer Coach. This position assists the Head Soccer Coach in directing all activities of the Soccer Program within NCAA, Pac 12 Conference, and ASU policies, guidelines, and procedures. The Assistant Soccer Coach is responsible for maintaining high academic standards to support the academic development and graduation of student-athletes while focusing on student-athlete welfare; assisting in successfully directing the Soccer program to compete for NCAA Championships; assisting in the recruitment of student-athletes and maintaining a culture of personal accountability in student-athlete performance and conduct, assisting in the planning and direction of all practices, travel, and game activities. This position adheres to NCAA and PAC-12 rules and regulations, as well as Arizona Board of Regents, University, and Athletic Department policies and procedures.\n \n Department Name \n SDA Administration\n \n Essential Duties \n \nAssists in overseeing daily practices. \n \nAssists with preparation, organization, design, and implementation of effective practice schedules.\n \nSuccessfully selects and recruits, retains, develops, and graduates high performing Soccer Student-Athletes. \n \nAssists in the conditioning, training and performance of team members. \n \nAssists in monitoring academic progress and eligibility status of student team members and the participation of team members in class attendance and meeting mandatory study hall requirements. \n \nEnsures consistent compliance with all University, NCAA and Pac 12 Conference rules, and regulations. \n \nCounsels student athletes in their obligations to observe rules and procedures adopted by the University, Conferences, and the NCAA. \n \nEffective performs community engagement, donor, and public relations. \n \nEnsures participation in public relation activities are in conformance with all applicable rules and regulations governing Intercollegiate Athletics as approved by SDA Administration and Head Coach. \n \nPerforms other administrative duties pertaining to the program as assigned by the Head Coach.\n \nPerforms budget management while utilizing strong computer skills.\n \nPerforms other duties as assigned.\n \n Required Minimum Qualifications \n Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years prior coaching experience at the college/university, Elite club, or Professional level; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.\n \n Desired Qualificiations \n \nEvidence of a Master's degree, preferred from a regionally accredited institution.\n \nExperience playing and coaching at the goalkeeper position preferred.\n \nEvidence of a Goalkeeper Coaching certificate or diploma.\n \nEvidence of effective communication skills.\n \nExperience in using organizational, public relations, interpersonal, customer service, and supervisory skills when working with student-athletes, faculty, staff, coaches, and administration. \n \nAbility to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.\n \nExperience working with multi-cultural populations.\n \nExperience in using a work ethic.\n \nEvidence of high integrity and character who shares a commitment for knowing and complying with NCAA, Conference, and Institutional rules as they apply to the Arizona State Athletics program.\n \nExperience working extended daily hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.\n \nDemonstrated knowledge of techniques and methods, specific to the soccer, to include knowledge of science and technology of training and conditioning for sports competition.\n \nDemonstrated skill in coaching and/or competing as an athlete at the college, university, Elite Club, or Professional level.\n \nExperience in interpersonal relations. \n \n Working Environment \n \nActivities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse\n \nRequired to stand for varying lengths of time and walk/run moderate distances to perform work \n \nFrequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds \n \nRegular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts\n \nAbility to clearly communicate to perform essential functions\n \nWork schedule is dependent upon athletic season competition schedule and may include days, nights, weekends, and/or holidays\n \nTravel is required for position\n \nDriving is required for position\n \n Department Statement: \n The Sun Devil Athletics (SDA) programs are elite, high profile Division I programs.
