The Chapin School, an independent K-12 day school for girls located in New York City, is seeking a Varsity Soccer Assistant Coach for the 2022 season.

POSITION TITLE: Varsity Soccer Assistant Coach

  • *Under the direction of the Director of Athletics and Varsity Soccer Head Coach, the assistant coach will provide support to the head coach in skill development and planning throughout the season. Candidates should have knowledge and experience within the sport and understand how to teach, mentor, and motivate student-athletes.

A Chapin athletic coach demonstrates the following knowledge, skills, abilities:

  • Clear commitment to the educational philosophy and mission of the School and Athletic Department and any ongoing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Is an effective communicator and educator who is able to teach athletes of all skill levels and abilities and understands the importance of listening as a key component of teaching.
  • Understands the Not only must they possess in-depth knowledge of fundamental skills, progressions, and strategies, but must also be able to adapt teaching instruction to all athletes.
  • Models professional leadership and behavior by adhering to the same rules expected of the athletes, displaying a positive attitude, and motivating and inspiring the team.

The Varsity Soccer Assistant Coach's specific duties and responsibilities will include:

  • 4-5 days per week. Practices are generally 3:30pm - 5:30pm. Games are generally between 4-
  • Season: August 22nd preseason through August 31st; regular schedule begins September Season ends early November.
  • Special events requiring additional hours and responsibilities: Homecoming Saturday October 15th, post-season league and state tournaments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s
  • Candidates must possess or be able to obtain First Aid and CPR
  • Has strong soccer coaching experience with high school aged Experience working in a school setting and coaching female athletes is preferred.
