Essential Functions ?


Emergency Department:

The Emergency Department Nursing Director responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensures department staff are managed effectively, including hiring, scheduling, training, evaluating performance and competency, and conducting disciplinary/counseling sessions as needed
  • Ensures quality of patient care through compliance of Standards of Care/Standards of Practice
  • Responsible for financial management of unit
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with Standards of Nursing Practice for assigned unit(s) as well as local, state, federal, and The Joint Commission standards
  • Implements, reviews, interprets and revises all relevant LMH and departmental policies and procedures.

Cardiopulmonary Department:

The Cardiopulmonary Nursing Director responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensures department staff are managed effectively, including hiring, scheduling, training, evaluating performance and competency, and conducting disciplinary/counseling sessions as needed
  • Ensures quality of patient care through compliance of Standards of Care/Standards of Practice
  • Responsible for financial management of unit
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with Standards of Nursing Practice for assigned unit(s) as well as local, state, federal, and The Joint Commission standards
  • Implements, reviews, interprets and revises all relevant LMH and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Works with the Lab Director and Respiratory Supervisor to maintain compliance of ABG machine with CLIA and Joint Commission standards.
  • Has accountability for the planning, directing, and evaluating the care, provided by the Respiratory Services, Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab, and Sleep Lab Staff.

Service/ Quality Excellence:

Participates in the Hospital’s Service Excellence Program designed to improve patient care, employee and physician satisfaction. Participation includes knowledge of HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Systems and Providers, which measures patient’s perceptions of care received and Core Measure Set, which measures performance of patients’, care based on medical research. Participates in hospital wide and unit specific performance projects.

Special qualifications:

Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, visitors, physicians, and department/hospital staff members. Computer skills essential. Ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care. Exhibits initiative by seeking opportunities for professional growth.

Job Requirements


Required Licenses


[Kentucky, United States] Registered Nurse

Must have a compact license or be licensed in the State of Kentucky.


Minimum Education


Bachelors Degree in Nursing Required

Masters Degree Preferred


Minimum Work Experience


5 years RN experience

Previous nursing management experience, charge nurse, lead nurse, or team manager required.


Required Skills


Must have current BLS, ACLS, PALS.
