Nature Teacher

Local job! Help preschool youth build an affinity toward nature at this Gainesville nature-based pre-school program.

Responsibilities include:

• Supervising students to ensure the safety and health of students.


• Develop a nature curriculum for preschool ages 1½- 5.


• Instill a love of the outdoors and nature in your students.


• Discover insects, plants, trees, birds and other animals in our area or pertaining to a unit of study.


• Provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities.


• Grow, maintain and harvest four small vegetable/herb beds with the children.


• Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of children.


• Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and parents.


• Communicating regularly with director about concerns and progress of class.


• Create a nurturing, creative learning environment for the class.


• Actively participate on a school committee and meet monthly.


• Compile with all DCF standards and requirements.


• All other duties assigned by Administration.

General Requirements:

• Must have experience working with young children.


• Must be able to bend, squat and lift 25 lbs.


• Must be able to pass a Level 2 state background check.


• Must complete 45 hours of DCF training plus 10 hours annual thereafter.

Pay $15 an hour 3 days a week for six hours each. Days flexible.
