Summary
The planning manager will lead a team of planning professionals and will be responsible for all aspects of scheduling, planning, and inventory activities. Some key areas of activities include developing a production plan, planning workflow and schedules, monitoring status, and ensuring customer delivery requirements through sales and operations planning (S&OP). The planning manager is responsible for the accuracy of all items within the business system that have an impact on company-wide financial reporting and manufacturing.
 
Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Implement, execute and maintain best-practice strategies for planning, scheduling, inventory, and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee production planning and materials management activities. 
  • Develop production plan, budget, and timelines according to production specifications.
  • Determine production requirements based on plant capacity and production specifications.
  • Provide leadership by promoting team concepts, coaching, counseling, retaining, mentoring, training, talent management, and individual development. Drives a culture of accountability and results through strategy deployment and effective performance management. 
  • Plan workflow and schedules for production departments. Follow up with Procurement, Manufacturing, and Packaging managers/supervisors to enable on-time delivery.
  • Monitor production status and ensure timely delivery. 
  • Track all packaging batches from time of release to final transfer to logistics facility and track all manufacturing batches through procurement, manufacturing, and QA.
  • Identify delays and accordingly adjust schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Assist in production risk assessment and mitigation activities. 
  • Review newly booked orders and determine appropriate promise dates based on a general understanding of raw material lead times, non-standard QC testing times, specific understanding of current production and packaging loads, the volumes of types of processes for the specific product, and a specific understanding of customer needs. 
  • Determine the optimal quantity and timing of releasing packaging batches to production based on current inventory and capacity.
  • Generate and maintain all relevant KPI’s and metrics for the company.  
  • Schedule and manage all daily and weekly production meetings including the S&OP meetings.
  • Support ad hoc requests on managing stock obsolescence. 
  • Produce metric-based performance data for leadership. 

Qualifications:
  • 5 years' experience in progressive planning, scheduling, and inventory management in a GMP environment with 2-5 years of experience in a management role. 
  • Understanding of S&OP, planning, scheduling, and inventory management.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel (Pivot Tables, graphs, and VLOOKUPS).
  • Experience working with MRP/ERP systems.
  • Strong written and verbal business communication abilities with all levels of management.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work. 

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business management, or operations.
  • APICS certification preferred.
