JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Purpose: Levi Strauss & Co. is seeking a strong privacy partner to join our global privacy team and focus on growing our privacy-aware culture, maturing our global Privacy Program, and serving as a privacy subject matter expert with particular focus on HR, marketing, and e-commerce.
This a hybrid on-site/remote role that can be based anywhere in the United States with a preference for the San Francisco Bay Area. Some travel will be required based on need.
Critical Results:
Supporting the Business: Providing proactive, solution-focused legal advice emphasizing a high standard of care for personal data
Maintaining contract templates and playbooks to address changes in law or business practices, providing training and support to the legal team on strategic agreements
Engaging as an agile partner to business teams, identifying and helping to resolve potential privacy risks inherent in new initiatives, including through Privacy Impact Assessments
Benchmarking areas of risk, best practices, and trends in the retail sector
Developing deep expertise in one or more essential business functions, becomes a go-to expert
Actively building a privacy-aware culture by developing relationships in the business
Growing the Function: Continually improving the global Privacy Program consistent with strategic objectives, evolving laws, and the LS&Co. values
Creating, implementing, and maintaining global policies, procedures, and ways of working
Driving for continuous improvement through periodic risk assessments and compliance reviews
Maintaining Compliance: Monitoring and implementing new legislative requirements or changes necessitated by enforcement or guidance
Maintaining current, comprehensive knowledge of data protection laws and regulations
Monitoring for new or modified data protection legislation in the Americas and other locations as assigned, with particular focus on California and U.S. Federal developments
Designing and delivering against project and readiness plans to implement legislative requirements
Requirements:
Education:
Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Active licensed attorney in good standing in the State of California (including registered in-house counsel, other states considered)
Working knowledge of global data privacy laws and regulations, i.e., CCPA, HIPAA, PIPEDA, LGPD, GDPR, etc.
Certified Information Privacy Professional by the International Association of Privacy Professionals
Experience:
A minimum of 6 years of privacy legal experience in a multi-national environment, at least 3 years of in-house experience, preferably in consumer goods sector
Experienced in working with a global team and in a hybrid environment
Pro-bono or community/volunteer engagement a plus

Intellectually curious, confident in dealing with issues outside current experience
Fundamental understanding of essential technology (experience with privacy platforms such as One Trust desired)
