NoWhat You Will Do
Coordinates all patient registration functions necessary to ensure insurance claims are processed accurately. Will obtain patient demographics and financial information to maximize financial reimbursement with premier customer service. This role performs face-to-face interviews directly with patients and/or their designated representatives. Key responsibilities include accurately identifying patients, delivering regulatory documents, and securing patients' financial information.
Will float to various Sharp locations to cover 8 hours shifts. Flexibility to cover Evening and Night shifts is highly desirable.
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in a customer service role
Preferred Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma or equivalent
- Experience discussing personal & financial matters with patients and/or their representatives
Other Qualification Requirements
- HFMA certifications preferred.
Essential Functions
- Collections
Request payment of co-pays, deductibles, and estimated out of pocket costs Receive and process payments. Secure all funds and receipts in accordance with department standard. Completes insurance verification and evaluation
- Insurance/Plan Selection
Obtain health benefit and insurance coverage information. If patient unable to provide insurance, search for potential Medicare or Medi-Cal coverage. Validate insurance eligibility electronically. Notify the clinical staff, including physician, on patients that are out-of-network. Initiate interviews on unfunded/underfunded patients. to provide patients with potential coverage options.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge of insurances, billing and collections guidelines/criteria
- Knowledge of Local, State, and Federal regulations governing registration/billing activities
- Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and/or RVS coding
- Knowledge of Medicare Important Message, Medicare Secondary Payor, Tricare Third Party Liability; Auto Accident and Work Comp, Medicare/Outpatient Observation Notice.
