Under the direction of the Associate Director for Training and Communications, the Technology Training Specialist is responsible for coordinating appropriate training for the college community in using and operating the college's computer hardware, software, and available technology resources. They will be responsible for performing training needs assessments, designing and delivering curriculum and learning materials, and evaluating training content and presentation. Knowledge is required in a wide range of software, computer hardware, and adult learning processes.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Functional/Technical:



  • Work closely with the Associate Director to identify training needs by evaluating the technology strengths and weaknesses of employees at the college.

  • Translate requirements into training that will equip employees with the appropriate technology skills.

  • Direct structured learning experiences and monitor/evaluate the quality of these experiences.

  • Deliver training courses.

  • Assess training effectiveness to ensure incorporation of taught skills and techniques into employees' work behavior.

  • Create and maintain all necessary learning materials, including training guides, job aids, videos, pre-and post-assessments, and evaluations.

  • Maintain training attendance records and report monthly on training statistics.

  • Periodically evaluate ongoing training programs to ensure that they reflect any technology changes.

  • Adhere to all published guidelines.

  • Assist the Associate Director with special ad-hoc projects.

  • Actively translate client needs into viable technical solutions.

  • Work cooperatively with SMEs and project managers to design, develop and maintain innovative and interactive learning solutions for new application software, operating systems, services, and hardware.

  • Work with the ITS support analysts and consultants to evaluate and make training recommendations based on ticket submissions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • This position may provide an opportunity for limited remote work.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • 1-3 years of training experience, preferably in higher ed.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design theory and adult learning principles.

  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, tools, and techniques.

  • Strong communication skills to prepare and present training materials.

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.

  • Strong decision-making and organizational skills.

  • Strong analytical skills and technical understanding of networks, computer systems, and software to assist users in recognizing needs and developing training to address those needs.

  • Ability to present complex information to a diverse community and a variety of audiences.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of various administrative software products. May include Google Suite, macOS applications, Zoom, etc.

  • The ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet necessary deadlines.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES PREFERRED:



  • Knowledge of Workday HCM/Finance, Salesforce, Canvas LMS, Colleague

  • Knowledge of content management systems (Drupal)

  • Knowledge of Atlassian's Confluence and JIRA software

  • ATD Training Certificate

  • Project Management fundamentals

  • Knowledge Management fundamentals

  • Formal study of music and/or knowledge of music-specific instructional technologies is a plus.
