ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Individual will provide secondary math tutorial assistance for students (individuals or small groups), grades seven through twelve at CCEC.

• Help students with daily assignments and special projects and review for test.

• Assist teachers with grading and copying as time allows.

• Fill in as a substitute teacher as needed for absent staff.

• Help supervise students during breakfast, class changes, gym, and lunch as needed

• Come to work regularly as scheduled.

• Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Relationships: Individual is directly supervised by the Director of Student Services and indirectly supervised by CCEC teachers.

Qualifications: Individuals must demonstrate proficiency in grades 7-12 math subjects. College degree or high school degree with equivalent experience preferred.

Skills and Knowledge Required: Individuals must have an understanding of adolescent development, characteristics, and behavior. The individual must know how adolescents learn. Must also have proficiency in grades 7-12 Math.

Prior Experience Required: Previous teaching or tutoring experience is desired but not required.

Personal Qualities: Individuals should show patience and understanding towards students while at the same time maintaining firmness and control. Must be able to attend to detail and show initiative and dedication. Individuals must maintain strict confidentiality about CCEC student affairs.

Hours per day or week: Not to exceed 19 hours per week based on El Reno Public School Calendar.

SUMMARY: The Canadian County Children’s Justice Center is looking for a Secondary math tutor for C.C.E.C (alternative school). The C.C.E.C of the Canadian County Children’s Justice Center provides students with extra help to reach learning benchmarks, pass classes, and prepare for tests. Assist in identifying the student’s strengths and weaknesses related to a subject, their learning style, their academic goals, and expectation from teachers. Teach by walking a student through their homework; ask questions to guide the student towards the correct answers while also showing the logic behind an approach to solving problems.
