Job Description



Primary Responsibilities:

  • To provide training, technical expertise and education to new and existing technical staff in the area of molecular biology techniques (PCR/qPCR/Sanger Sequencing) and associated molecular assay(s).
  • Responsible for site training coordination of new hires, ensure department personnel fully support compliance-based activities by maintaining current training requirements and deliver timely reports of training results to trainees, departmental assistants, and department manager, as needed.
  • Assist in the design, innovation, and update of technical training curriculum and resources to be utilized within the department and in cooperation with operational leads.
  • Collaborate and integrate with site/and or parenteral training teams to benchmark and share best practice.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide range of analyses (routine and non-routine) to support bio-pharmaceutical testing. Analyses are primarily, but not limited to, Molecular Biology techniques, including DNA cloning, DNA purification, PCR/qPCR, primer design, DNA sequencing and analysis, bacterial transformation and culture, and protein expression/purification.
  • Possess subject matter expert (SME) level of technical acumen suitable to troubleshoot and overcome common technical challenges associated with molecular biology techniques.
  • Meet TAT for assigned testing/projects and work independently.
  • Review and evaluate raw data for acceptability.
  • Assist other technical staff in evaluation of raw data for acceptability.
  • Contribute to the development and validation of methods used within the department.
  • Be able to plan and organize work week and communicate schedule to management when required.
  • Attend client facing meetings as needed.
  • Document work as required for GMP compliance.
  • Work with quality departments to ensure all documentation meets GMP requirements for each assay developed.
  • Troubleshoot method and instrumentation problems; be proactive in solving technical problems.




Qualifications



The Ideal Candidate would possess:

  • Experience in managing and/or teaching people.
  • Expertise in molecular biology techniques (PCR/qPCR/Sanger Sequencing/DNA/RNA extraction/ Cloning/Gel electrophoresis, bacterial transformation and culture/aseptic techniques). Experience with cell culture (suspension and adherent) is preferred, but not required.
  • Familiarity with and/or hands-on experience with digital droplet PCR (ddPCR) and/or qPCR method development, qualification and/or validation.
  • Ability to work with individuals one-on-one or teach as a group. Ability to follow a training curriculum schedule for multiple individuals at differing levels.
  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills; previous experience with any LIMS.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), attention to detail and the ability to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.


Minimum Qualifications:


Bachelor’s degree in molecular/cellular biology or other related degree concentration, or equivalent directly-related experience; Master’s or Doctorate preferred but not required.


Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
