ABOUT BOSTON COURT PASADENA Boston Court Pasadena is a nonprofit performing arts center primarily dedicated to developing and producing adventurous new work, significantly re-envisioned classics, and nurturing both emerging and established artists across all art forms. Boston Court strives to create art that thrills, engages, moves and sustains people in order to deepen empathy, community, and provoke change. Founded in 2003 by philanthropist Z. Clark Branson and producing director Eileen T'Kaye, Boston Court features an intimate facility designed to bring audiences and artists closer together. The 80-seat Marjorie Branson Performance Space and the 99-seat Main Stage serve as homes for Boston Court's season of daring, adventurous theatre and its richly diverse music series. Boston Court is also the home of an annual New Play Reading Festival, an upcoming new composer initiative, multiple community events and partnerships, as well as rotating visual art exhibits. Boston Court theatre productions have been seen in New York City, Boston, Houston, and Malibu, and have won countless Ovation Awards, Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards, American Theatre Wing Awards, and many others. POSITION SUMMARY Under leadership and in collaboration with the Managing Director, the Marketing & Communications Manager will be the primary staff member responsible for creating and implementing the comprehensive marketing strategy for Boston Court. The Marketing & Communications Manager will also maintain "the voice" of Boston Court Pasadena on social media platforms and in all marketing materials. The Marketing & Communications Manager will oversee the patron services functions including all ticketing as well as patron experiences and customer relations. Essential Functions:
  • Marketing (50%)
    • Plan, write, edit, and oversee design, production, and distribution of:
      • Print materials (season booklet, promotional pieces for the organization, etc.)
      • Donor materials, in collaboration with the Development Manager
      • Digital communications (newsletter, event emails, website, etc.)
      • Social media content
      • Editorial content
      • Video, audio, and other multimedia content
      • Manage freelance designers, photographers, and videographers
      • Oversee the design and continuous improvement of the Boston Court Pasadena website.
        • Communications (35%)
          • Strategize subscription and single ticket campaigns
          • Supervise the ticketing/CRM system
          • Oversee the ticketing and customer service aspects of the Administrative & Patron Services Coordinator position
          • Shape and drive BCP's voice messaging, in collaboration with the Artistic Director and Managing Director.
          • Plan and manage BCP voice on all social media channels
          • Manage and grow the Boston Court Pasadena brand, increasing visibility and engagement locally, nationally, and internationally.
          • Create and manage the annual communications plan and calendar
            • Public Relations (15%)
              • Plan, execute, and evaluate advertising and PR strategies for BCP.
              • Write and distribute press releases, pitch stories to the media, maintain press kit, and track media relations efforts.
              • Along with all Boston Court team members, share in staffing performances and other public functions, serving as a representative of the organization The ideal candidate will be a personable and dynamic self-starter with the following qualifications:
                • Meaningful experience working in marketing and/or communications, preferably with a nonprofit cultural and/or arts organization
                • Experience disseminating the voice of a brand across multiple platforms, and ability to ensure consistency of brand through writing and other content creation.
                • An analytical and data-driven mind, and the ability to synthesize complex information and data into actionable plans
                • Fluency with computers and standard software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite
                • Experience working with database and CRM systems including ticketing functions
                • Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary
                • Preferred: direct experience with TheatreMania/OvationTix/Audience View but not required.
