Central Region Dietitian

  • This position will provide food management and nutrition related consultation to Food Service, Medical and other professionals in Central Region Prison facilities.  
  • This position ensures that offenders in the region are provided nutritionally adequate and appropriate diets and ensure that foods are prepared and served under sanitary conditions in accordance with local, state and federal regulations and standards.  
  • The Central Region Dietitian will be responsible for auditing and inspection of the food service departments in the region and assist with corrective action that may be needed. 
  • The position will assist with regular menu development and menus for offenders with chronic diseases requiring medical nutrition therapy.   
  • The Central Region Dietitian will assist with assessing food service equipment needs in the region.  
  • This position also provides nutrition related information in the way of related trainings or meetings for food management, administration and medical staff.  
  • The Central Region Dietitian will assist with policy reviews and development for the Food and Nutrition Management section.  
  • The Central Region Dietitian supervises a Medical Dietitian for the region.  
This position will be located in Raleigh, NC.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is NC18.  State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position.  If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.  Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

  • Working knowledge of large-scale institutional food service operations and food management systems  
  • Thorough knowledge of medical nutrition therapy and dietetic principles including writing and analyzing therapeutic for variety of chronic diseases 
  • Technical experience with electronic medical records and food service software systems 
  • Skill and experience to delegate and supervise employees
