Position Summary
The duties of this position require a broad range of health
education knowledge, skill, and experience that target and support
the well-being and success of college students. This position
promotes overall student health through a variety of methods such
as: workshop development and presentation of information, program
development, writing health education content, social media posts,
one-on-one lifestyle consultations, website maintenance, webinar
hosting, student food pantry operations and management, outreach,
research, day-to-day office management, grant writing assistance,
and student staff supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for coordinating health education and health promotion
programs and large campus events. Duties include researching,
designing, implementing and evaluating health and wellness programs
that focus on awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and student
learning.
Responsible for offering a wide range of health and wellness topics
such as safe sex, responsible drinking, anti-violence, stress
management, suicide prevention, dating and domestic violence
prevention, nutrition, time management, study skills, life skills,
healthy relationships, and other topics to be determined
Responsible for researching, writing, implementing, and evaluating:
health education workshops, reading materials, and web and listserv
content. Conduct health and wellness presentations to students on a
broad range of topics, develop and host educational tables.
Responsible for managing daily operations of a student food pantry
that include: placing food orders, inventory, stocking shelves,
cleaning space, serving student users, promoting and advertising
pantry services, managing pantry listserv, picking up food
donations, and managing donor relations.
Responsible for student health and wellness consultations that
involve supporting students through life and academic challenges
following the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services
Administration ( SAMHSA ) eight dimensions of wellness
Responsible for developing partnerships with student organizations
and departments to develop, promote, and implement student-focused
programs and committees
Assist with the planning and implementation of research activities
such as needs assessments, survey administration, grant writing,
completing IRB applications, data collection, data entry, data
analysis, and report preparation.
Manage, write content, edit, and update websites, social networking
sites, develop and produce advertising, and marketing materials
both in print and electronically. Manage all aspects of webinar
production and hosting.
Support day-to-day office operations. Assist with selection,
training, and supervision of student staff and student volunteers
as appropriate.
Liaise with Student Success Coaches and FYEX Seminar course
instructors to provide knowledge and skills to our students to
develop resilient mental health and improve coping skills for
dealing with the stressors of higher education.
Develop peer-to-peer activities promoting mental health and student
wellness
Facilitate transfer of general information about campus services
and events related to mental health awareness
Coach constructively – the coordinator may not be a counselor, but
refers to counseling resources when appropriate
Provide triage services to screen students who need counseling and
guides those to the appropriate resources
Follow up with students to make sure they are being well supported
through their enrollment at the college
Identifies repetitive behavioral and academic patterns in
interactions with students and communicates these trends to
departmental leadership
Provide regular and ongoing reports on the state of the student
community and factors affecting student well-being
Make recommendations for program changes and initiatives that would
enhance community and student well-being
Work to present semi-annual reports, with recommendations
Identify important research questions and necessary data to plan
community wellbeing initiatives
Advocate for student interests with department and faculty
leadership
Review and update logs, files, and case review notes and provide
ongoing case management
Attend and participate in staffing and team meetings
Attend professional development trainings
Cross-train with advocates in other specialty areas
Ensure safety/confidentiality of students
Be on call for crisis situations
Develop and promote diverse and inclusive educational programming,
specifically bystander intervention, enthusiastic consent, healthy
dating relationships and suicide prevention, etc.
Ensure ethical boundaries, decision-making, and advocacy standards
are adhered to
Maintain regular attendance
Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work,
Health or related field; -1 year working in a university/college
setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Student
Affairs Administration, or a related field.
Special Conditions for Eligibility
Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and odd hours as
required; • Complete NMCADV 40-hour advocacy Certification Training
within six (6) months of employment; • Must be at least eighteen
(18) years of age; • Must be willing to work on-call crisis
situations and assist campus police as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to present detail-specific material both orally and
visually; • Knowledge of legal and federal requirements for
referral procedures for reporting violence; • Ability to handle
sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality;
• Ability to work under highly stressful, crisis-oriented
situations; • Skill in training, leading, organizing, advising,
planning, and working independently; • Knowledge in systems of
oppression, socio-ecological model of prevention, and
intersectionality; • Ability to incorporate and recognize the need
for inclusive, diverse, and equitable services for vulnerable
groups; •Knowledge and distinction between Title IX, Clery Act,
VAWA, FERPA and HIPPA, and other related federal policies;

Work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment. •
