Lamar University is seeking applications for the position of Associate Athletics Director Marketing.
Responsibilities encompass a portfolio including the marketing and promotions of Lamar University Athletics.
The Associate Athletics Director Marketing is responsible for full-time staff, including the Assistant Director Athletics Marketing, along with oversight of a Graphic Designer and the student athletics marketing team.
The individual will:
provide direction and oversight of the Athletics brand management and licensing, administer advertising campaigns across assigned platforms, work collaboratively with the athletics ticketing sales team on utilization commitments and the Director of Marketing Communications for Lamar University to ensure a cohesive branding and marketing approach across all platforms.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop, organize, implement, and provide oversight for all athletic and sports specific marketing plans, including working collaboratively with ticketing, donor relations, video production, on-campus and community organizations to increase event attendance, ticketing revenue and exposure for Lamar University Athletics and enhance the in-game experience for fans.

Create and execute annual marketing plans for the intercollegiate athletics programs, focusing on increasing attendance with enhancing the game day experience.

Work collaboratively with coaches to create social media marketing plans for all sports to assist in driving attendance and enhancing recruiting efforts.

Oversee marketing, in-game promotions, event scripting, and presentation of home athletic events.

Administer and oversee all athletics advertising, social media, email marketing and collateral material production including graphic design.

Create, implement, and oversee community outreach projects to promote the Lamar University Athletics brand.

Assist in providing direction and oversight of athletic department brand management and licensing.
Work collaboratively with corporate sales to ensure that sponsorship fulfillment takes place as promised in agreements.

Work with University Marketing team to develop content for both internal and external audiences.

Assist with the fulfillment and execution of sold sponsorship inventory at home events.

Leverage resources on campus to enhance marketing and promotion efforts towards students.

Conduct research on best practices and implement new ideas to engage the student body leading to increased student attendance at home events.

Delegate tasks among staff to guarantee annual plans are fully executed and athletic events are running smoothly.

Complete pre-event marketing previews, post-game summaries and marketing staff evaluations.

Supervise the assistant director athletics marketing.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in marketing, public relations, communication, sports management, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of related job experience.
  • Two (2) to Three (3) years of experience in athletic marketing/fan experiences.
  • Experience managing a team.
  • Knowledge in creating marketing collateral and/or concepts for an athletic department.
  • Knowledge of adobe creative suite.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
  • A basic understanding of college athletics.
