Job Description:


Collaborates with the QA Specialists, product developers, buying teams, and vendors to support the development, technical review and maintenance of Exclusive Brands products through specification and nutrition labeling functions for food and non-food categories. Finalize label-sensitive information according to all applicable government regulations. Provide nutritional guidance and recommendations during product development according to project objectives. Evaluates incoming nutritional testing results with PSQA, as needed, to ensure compliance with the product and quality specifications.

Job Responsibilities:



  • Acts as the nutrition specialist and leads the nutritional recommendations and guidance to team during product development process.

  • Participates in the product compliance specification review and approval process, with special attention to WFM quality standards, Federal and state regulations, nutrition allergen and other label sensitive information.

  • Evaluates the vendor’s specifications and provides technical guidance to vendors, as needed.

  • Works with other GQA sub-teams to determine the most appropriate allergen statement based on product risk and information provided by vendor.

  • Evaluates the incoming nutritional test results with PSQA, as needed, for compliance with the specifications.

  • Provides advice, training and guidance to the less experienced Team Members.

  • Provides Specification support across multiple high-risk food and non-food product lines and vendors.

  • Collaborates with Package Design & Compliance team to ensure product labels are compliant with government regulations.

  • Utilizes third party partners to lead the effort to stay abreast of nutrition, health and wellness trends in the industry.

  • Maintain labeling policies and procedures for special diets (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc.) and work with IQ, buyers, Design and vendors to ensure they are being used accurately on product labels.

  • Prioritizes overall projects for team according to buyer timelines and project objectives to help ensure timely release of projects to Package Design & Compliance team.

  • Identifies areas for business process improvement and seeks out stakeholders to make improvements in process.

  • Coordinates timely release of final label sensitive information to Package Design & Compliance team according to category review schedule and agreed upon timelines.


Job Requirements:



  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and with Adobe Acrobat Professional.

  • Keeps multiple projects on track financially, creatively, and in accordance with the stakeholder’s deadlines.

  • Advanced understanding of the standard project management methodologies and requirements.

  • Demonstrates comprehensive product knowledge, development and commercialization concepts and methodologies.

  • May provide informal support to the less experienced Team Members.

  • Oversees and advises on the project management issues and assists with overcoming the barriers.

  • Understands the trends and emerging challenges of the customer, market, and industry.

  • Builds relationships with the senior-level stakeholders and leaders.

  • Advanced proficiency skills with retailer web-based specification systems.

  • Collaborates with others to achieve the objectives and ensure information flow.

  • Effectively presents information and responds to questions in both one-on-one situations and group meetings.

  • Participates in and provides the senior-level support to the team and cross-functional projects.

  • Communicates structured information in a clear, concise, and organized fashion.

  • Advanced ability to plan, estimate, organize, and monitor projects.

  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the WFM product mix, supply base, and retail operations.

  • In-depth understanding of food labeling and FDA / USDA regulations.

  • Applies business and project understanding to focus the project / team’s efforts.

  • Impacts the overall team effectiveness.


Qualification & Experience:



  • Registered Dietitian or BA/BS degree and 4-6 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
