Advertised Job Summary
The HR Contact for Athletics will assist with the human resources operations of the Athletics Department by providing support to the HR Director and performing HR actions as needed. The HR Contact will coordinate, at the department level, the HR processes for hiring and reappointing temp and student positions. Will also provide guidance to employees or prospective employees during the application and hire process. Generates offer and reappointment letters, acquires required documents related to I-9s and initiates hires in University programs (PeopleAdmin and/or PeopleSoft) as required. Assists the HR Director in reviewing and approving various HR actions including salary adjustments, job changes, dual appointments and more. Serves as "initiator" for various actions as needed in coordination w/ Director. Perform other duties / special projects as needed.
Bachelor's degree and 2 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Some HR knowledge and/or understanding is strongly preferred. Familiarity w/ collegiate athletics is also preferred, due to fast pace and public interest in athletics.
Knowledge/understanding of policies and procedures related to University's hire processes, fiscal operations and general operations and techniques. Ability to analyze and present ideas and communicate in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing. Strong team player skills and the ability to work harmoniously with a diverse workforce. Must have writing skills sufficient to compose and edit a variety of documents.
