Overview


The Bariatric Dietitian provides medical nutrition therapy that is integrated and consistent with patient medical goals. This includes nutrition assessment, nutrition diagnosis, developing and implementing nutrition interventions, nutrition education and monitoring and evaluating patient progress.


 


The Bariatric Dietitian works collaboratively with another full-time Dietitian and a team of two Surgeons, two Physician Assistants, two in-office Psychologists, one Medical Weight Loss Provider and one part-time Bariatric Coordinator.


 


This is an opportunity to function as an independent Provider with continuity of care – seeing your patient panel throughout their bariatric program journey. This role will teach group classes, in addition to seeing patients one-on-one.


 


This role qualifies for a sign-on bonus of up to $15,000.

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-exempt position.Work schedule is weekdays, Monday-Friday.


 



 


Qualifications



  • Privileging through medical staff required.

  • Bachelors degree in nutrition and clinical dietetics.

  • New Mexico Dietetics License required.

  • Registered Dietitian credential through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

  • One to three years experience in nutrition preferable, but will consider new a graduate.


Responsibilities



  • Provides medical nutrition therapy that is integrated and consistent with patient medical goals which includes nutrition assessment, nutrition diagnosis, developing and implementing nutrition interventions, nutrition education and monitoring and evaluating patient progress.

  • Provides nutrition counseling based on individual needs, evaluates patient/family knowledge and readiness to learn using effective interview methods.

  • Meets educational needs of food service, medical staff and/or professional staff related to dietary needs and nutrition.

  • Population served may include neonates, pediatrics, adults and geriatrics.

  • Performs other functions as required.
