About us Jackson Health System’s Corrections Health Services works closely with Miami-Dade County’s Corrections and Rehabilitation Department, serving 5,000 patients daily at Miami-Dade’s three correctional facilities. Patient care is delivered by nearly 400 healthcare professionals representing a diverse multidisciplinary team of nurses and nursing support staff, physicians, psychiatrists, social workers, and other team members.

CHIEF OF PSYCHIATRY

We are looking for an experienced Chief of Psychiatry with demonstrated experience in the administration of behavioral health staff to drive positive outcomes in a patient-centric correctional healthcare environment. The incumbent will be responsible for the management of behavioral health services with oversight for the patient care needs of approximately 1,500 on the behavioral health caseload. Serves as a liaison between the medical/clinical staff, Miami Dade Corrections and Rehab (MDCR) and Jackson Health System (JHS) leadership. Qualifications: License in the state of Florida as MD or DO Board certified or board eligible in psychiatry. Correctional health and/or forensic experience preferred.

PSYCHIATRIST

The staff psychiatrist provides and maintains intensive direct medical diagnosis, consultation, and heathcare services throughout inpatient and outpatient settings, as needed. Qualifications: Generally, requires three to five years of related experience. Valid Florida medical license, DEA license, and psychiatry board certification or eligible required.

Qualifications





Experience: Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.


Education: Doctorate degree in Medicine is required.


Licensure Certification: Valid Florida Medical License, DEA license and board certification or eligible based on specialty (Psychiatry) are required. Other specialty certifications related to specialty are a plus. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification with at least 6 months validity required.


Knowledge Skill Abilities: General Competencies: Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications. Management Competencies: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Skill in monitoring/assessing the performance to make improvements or take corrective action. Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs. Ability to establish goals and objectives. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
