Position Information

Supervises and performs professional level accounting work in the conduct of a fiscal program involving financial recordkeeping, reporting, control, and analysis of financial statements and reports; reviews, designs and implements accounting systems; and performs other related duties as required.

Honolulu Board of Water Supply, Finance Division (1 vacancy): This position serves as the accountant in charge of the Revenue and Customer Accounting Section and performs complex professional accounting work for fiscal revenue statistical and financial data and related reports; reviews, develops, and recommends accounting procedures; works in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), practices, and standards of governmental accounting; promotes timely, efficient, and effective customer accounting operations; and maintains effective working relationships with the section's staff, other divisions and BWS employees, and external customers, organizations, and agencies.

Department of Budget and Fiscal Services, Accounting Division (1 vacancy): This position supervises and coordinates the resources and activities of the fiscal section staff in servicing the Department of Community Services (Department), except for programs funded via the Workforce Investment Act, the Oahu Worklinks' state grants, and the Section 8 Programs; performs accounting work relating to the budgeting, accounting, and reporting of the Department's varied sources of funds; and provides advisory services to the Department's management and administrative staff relating to the use and projection of the financial data and information.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting or in business administration with courses in accounting. (Note: At least 12 semester credits in accounting or auditing courses is needed, six of which must be above the beginning or elementary course level from an accredited four-year college or university).

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Four years of progressively responsible work experience in professional accounting, including or supplemented by work experience demonstrating aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader, or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.

SUBSTITUTION: A Master's degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university will substitute for one of the required four years of professional accounting experience. You must submit evidence of your Master's degree in Accounting in order to be given credit for the substitution.
