Nevada Heart & Vascular Center, a leading Cardiology practice in Las Vegas, is excited to announce the opening for Cardiovascular Registered Nurse.


Position Summary: The Cardiovascular Registered Nurse, under the direction of the Nurse Manager and clinic doctor/s will primarily conduct stress testing. Other testing may include pulmonary or cardiovascular systems of patients for diagnostic purposes. The Cardiovascular Registered Nurse may also conduct electrocardiograms, pulmonary functions, lung capacity, and similar tests. Provides nursing care for all patients in accordance with established standards, policies, procedures, licensure, and scope of practice. Utilizes the nursing process in providing care and includes the process in documentation, identifying unusual conditions, and utilizing initiative and judgment to carry out appropriate response. Administers prescribed medications and treatments and patient specific cares to patient in accordance with approved nursing techniques. Responsible for complete patient assessment and patient medical records.


Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience



  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nurse Program, has current licensure in the State of Nevada.

  • Associates degree Required, Bachelor's degree (preferred) in nursing.

  • Experience in a medical setting of 3 years is preferred but not required, Cardiology experience in preferred but not required.

  • BLS and ACLS are required

  • General computer skills with working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and email applications.

  • Detail-oriented with critical thinking, analytical analysis and organizational skills a must.

  • Excellent patient clinical assessment skills.

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work cohesively within a team environment.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with customers and all levels of management.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Ability to gather and interpret data.

  • Ability to train new Cardiovascular Technologist/A-EMTs.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment.


Essential Duties



  • Greeting patients professionally both in person and on the phone.

  • Scheduling patient appointments, cancellations, and updating records

  • Verifying patient identity

  • Monitoring and taking patient vital signs and heart rate as needed

  • Entering patient information into a database

  • Maintaining cleanliness and sanitary needs of space

  • Maintaining required records and documentation

  • Ensuring patient confidentiality

  • Recording patients' conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, and weight

  • Assisting with clinical duties

  • Checking and ordering inventory supplies; maintaining office equipment, ordering replacement supplies as needed

  • Monitors patient's blood pressure and heart rate using electrocardiogram (EKG) equipment during diagnostic or therapeutic procedures to notify the physician if something appears wrong. Adjusts equipment and controls according to physicians orders or established protocol.

  • Obtains and records patient identification, medical history, or test results.

  • Explains testing procedures to patients to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety. Monitors the patients comfort and safety during tests, alerting physicians to abnormalities or changes in patient responses.

  • Attaches electrodes to the patient's chests, arms, and legs, connects electrodes to leads from the electrocardiogram (EKG) machine, and operates the EKG machine to obtain a reading. Observes gauges, recorders, and video screens of data analysis system during imaging of cardiovascular system.

  • Checks, tests, and maintains cardiology equipment, making minor repairs to ensure proper operation

  • Preparing correspondence, documentation

  • Working as a vital part of a team of medical professionals

  • Follow all HIPAA regulations

  • Assist with other clerical tasks as needed

  • May refer to senior staff for assistance with higher-level problems that may arise.

  • Escalates issues to the supervisor for resolution, as deemed necessary.

  • Assist with various projects as assigned by the direct supervisor.

  • Meets and exceeds short and long term goals as established for the department.

  • Performs duties and job functions in accordance with the policies and procedures established for the department.

  • Reports to work, meetings and professional obligations on time.

  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.

  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals.

  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to influence continuous improvements in department's efficiency and services performed.

  • Takes ownership of special projects, researches data and follows through with detailed action plans.

  • Actively participates in problem identification and resolution and coordinates resolutions between appropriate parties.

  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

  • Adheres to Corporate, Department and HR policies and procedures.


Physical Requirements



  • Employee is required to have visual and auditory acuity necessary for communications with other employees and/or customers to meet business needs of NHVC.

  • Employee must be able to see written documentation and be able to speak and hear for communication with employees/customers.

  • Ability to use a wide array of office equipment including, but not limited to a PC, copier, fax, multi-line telephone, etc.

  • Employee is exposed to general indoor working conditions and may on occasion require light lifting or no greater than 20 pounds and some offsite travel.
