The Materials Manager is responsible for the purchase of raw materials, supplies and the production scheduling for the smooth and efficient fulfillment of customer orders. In addition, the Materials Manager is responsible for the operations of the following departments: Production Planning, Inventory Control, Shipping and Receiving, and IT.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains procurements policies and procedures
In conjunction with sales, builds and maintains procurement relationships with vendors to obtain raw materials and supplies at competitive prices
Responsible for the accuracy of purchasing data in computer systems and the preparation of reports as required
Determines production priorities and establishes and publishes production schedule
Resolves scheduling challenges while involving other departments in the organization for example, maintenance, tooling, production personnel and program management
Maintains database, BOM, MRP files to control inventory
Ensures accuracy of raw material inventories before and after production
Oversees the activities related to the shipping and receiving department
Maintains customer records and resolving any discrepancies
Supervises and develop the staff for all departments managed
Requirements:
Bachelors Degree, preferably in Business, Marketing or Finance and 5+ years of experience in Materials Management with extensive use of ERP systems.
Understanding of finance and accounting principles.
5+ years in a supervisory role, with proven track record of employee coaching and development.
Knowledge and experience working with quality system requirements, such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
