The University of Alabama in Huntsville is seeking a highly professional and experienced candidate for the position of Assistant Coach, Women's Soccer. Reporting to the Head Soccer Coach, the Assistant Coach, Women's Soccer is responsible for assisting the head coach with all activities of the designated program, including but not limited to, recruitment and retention of quality student-athletes, academic progress of student-athletes, competitive game strategy, budget management, coaching staff oversight, and the program's compliance with the University and Governing Body while maintaining positive public relationships with the university and community.
Duties/ Responsibilities: Assist the Head Soccer Coach in instructing, administering, planning, and directing the UAH women's soccer program. Assist with recruitment assessment and evaluation of quality student-athletes. Fosters open, honest, two-way communication with the head coaches and student-athletes. Assist in establishing game plans and execution, set, and communicate appropriate goals and expectations. Perform, teach, demonstrate, and train student-athletes. Assist in the management of athletic-related injuries or the aggravation of such injuries during practice sessions and scheduled contests by being knowledgeable of the injuries sustained in the sport and proper prevention methods, directing appropriate pre-training sessions and pre-contest preparations and warm-ups, and arranging for qualified sports medicine personnel or athletic trainers to be available during all training sessions and contests. Produces a high-performing team capable of meeting and maintaining competitive expectations. Demonstrate a sincere interest in the academic progress, personal, and physical welfare of each student-athlete. Assist in the coordination of game day management. Coordinate and work closely with department administrators to coordinate recruitment activity. Must have knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, the ability to effectively coordinate recruiting activities, maintain team discipline and instill proper ethical and moral standards. Communicate frequently and effectively with admissions representatives. Assist with the development and implementation of an overall recruiting plan. Know and comply with the rules and regulations of the NCAA, and related laws and regulations, and stay abreast of rule changes, applications, and interpretations. Assist in sports instruction and provide information to ensure that staff members, athletes, and athletics representatives are informed of and comply with NCAA departmental rules and regulations. Assist in the management of equipment, inventory, purchases, and maintenance. Supervise, assign, direct, and delegate tasks to the equipment manager and student workers. Completes all administrative responsibilities associated with the program in a timely manner. Assist in the management of travel activities and arrangements for competition, recruiting, and professional travel. Assist in the management of an appropriate competition schedule. Work cooperatively and effectively with numerous support areas and personnel. Represent UAH, the athletic department, and the soccer program in a positive manner to various internal and external constituencies. Actively promote UAH and the soccer program, promotional materials, and events through the media, speaking engagements, camps, clinics, and community involvement. Assist in the coordination of the film exchange. Promote and manage the alumni interest in and support the university's soccer program. Provide leadership in the teams' fundraising activities and initiatives to advance the program. Maintain positive and public relations with the University community.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of experience and education. A minimum of 1 year of coaching experience. Must possess a demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Must have excellent verbal communication skills. Knowledge of, and adhering to the university s policies, procedures, and bylaws and maintaining compliance with NCAA departmental and university rules, regulations, and the governing body are required. Must be able to work flexible working hours including evenings, nights, and weekends and have the ability to travel. A Master's degree is preferred. Previous university experience and goalkeeping coaching experience are desired. The approximate starting salary for this position is $28,000 - $30,000 with an excellent benefits package.
