Assist in the development, establishment, implementation and evaluation of psychological and other mental health services for various inmate populations as needed. Provide clinical supervision to mental health staff. May assist the Chief Psychologists for Mental Health in the supervision of other non-licensed psychologists, students and other mental health practitioners. Provide training to other mental health and correctional staff as needed.

NDCS also has an opening for a psychologist in our inpatient sexual offense treatment program in Omaha.

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) employs nearly 2,300 team members operating 10 institutions, which house approximately 5,200 inmates, statewide. The department's focus includes inmate programming and education, physical and behavioral health care, re-entry services, and community programs, and is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA). This is an at-will position. $95,000 minimum starting salary for fully-licensed Psychologists. License-eligible individuals are also encouraged to apply and will be considered at $85,000 minimum starting salary.

Schedule: M-F DaysProvide clinical supervision to mental health staff. May assist the Chief Psychologists for Mental Health in the supervision of other non-licensed psychologists, students and other mental health practitioners. Provide training to other mental health and correctional staff as needed. Assist in the development, establishment, implementation and evaluation of psychological and other mental health services for various inmate populations as needed. Assist in developing policies and procedures, program evaluation and research as related to mental health services. Review and interpret psychological testing results. Assist in administering and interpret various risk assessments and provide treatment recommendations and/or develop treatment plans to address risk areas. Develop or supervise the development of behavioral plans for high risk or special needs inmates. Provide and supervise psychotherapy and treatment services. Provide psychological services to inmates including observation, crisis intervention and mental status evaluations. Provide crisis management/intervention services. Perform comprehensive psychological evaluations directed toward the determination of diagnosis, risks and needs, with subsequent appropriate course of treatment. Participate on involuntary medication hearings as well as screen/monitor individuals who may need to be considered for involuntary medication. Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings as required. Participate/supervise the preparation of information for, and participate in, various clinical review teams as needed. Maintain and complete paperwork, reports and other documentation according to policy and as needed and required. Maintain current Nebraska licensure.
Duties for our inpatient sexual offense treatment program encompass the above but also involve participating on the clinical review team guiding assessment and treatment decision-making for persons incarcerated for sexual offenses, conducting risk assessments and treatment plans for patients prior to starting treatment, participating in quarterly treatment reviews for patients, and writing discharge summaries.REQUIREMENTS: Must be licensed to practice psychology in the state of Nebraska.

PREFERRED: Completed required APA accredited clinical internship. Management experience. Supervisory experience with psychological and other mental health professionals. Forensic experience. Experience working with incarcerated individuals. Experience working with major mental illness populations. Experience assessing inmates convicted of sexual offenses. Experience testifying in Mental Health Board Hearings. Experience working on multi-disciplinary teams. Bilingual English/Spanish desired and assessed.

OTHER: License eligible candidates may be considered if actively pursuing licensure to become fully licensed as a Clinical Psychologist within a period not to exceed 2 years from date of hire. Proof of licensure and transcripts required upon acceptance of a job offer. Must submit to a security background check. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the pre-employment medical exam and a drug test. Once employed, all incumbents must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Department of Correctional Services pre-service training program.
