Assistant Football Coach/Defensive Assistant Athletics

Carnegie Mellon University s department of Athletics is searching for an Assistant Football Coach/Defensive Assistant in its NCAA Division III program. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing assistance to the head coach with all aspects of the football program. This is a full-time, 12-month position.

Core responsibilities will include:

• Playbook creation, game planning, and organizing daily practice schedule
• Demonstrate proficiency in sport skill instruction, motivation and ability to conduct practice sessions under the direction of the head coach
• Exhibit encouraging and cooperative behavior pursuing sport programs goals set by head coach
• Demonstrate sincere interest in personal, academic and athletic progress of student-athletes
• Leadership and professional behavior when dealing with student athletes
• Recruit potential student athletes via phone, email or personal contact
• Teaching the physical education program as necessary
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree required; Master s degree preferred
• 1-3 years athletic coaching experience; knowledge of computer software for film breakdown and recruiting is highly desired
• Proven leadership skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
